- Hey Guys Ive been doing some thinking recently for a new way to relay information with proefi. Ive seen that you can use the Can Hi and Lo and connect it a obd2 plug. In doing this can you use the OBD2 and place a bluetooth adapter so that signal could be sent to the Android app Torque?
My main questions with this are if the proefi will give out normal OBD2 signals and it can be plug in play or do settings have to be changed within the proefi to give out the proper CAN signals for the gages in the App. Torque also has the ability to program PID within the app, so I figured this could be used if the CAN signal from the proefi is not the same as OBD2.
I thought I would bring this up because it seems that there is a big push that Ive seen where 7'' tablets are becoming the double din replacement these days because of accessibility to the app store and I feel this would be a great tool in providing more info from the ECU to the driver. Im going to be installing one in m car soon and would like to see this work.
Hey guys,
also working with gurley0916 to get a 7'' tablet into my supra. I noticed on other forums that you can get a OBDii plug from your proefi dealer, so with that in mind, couldnt you just run the CAN hi and lo wire to the odbii plug so that you can buy this bluetooth adapter so that it trasmits those signal to the tablet. People are using their android phones and this same setup on a lot of newer OBDii cars with great feedback and its the same operating system.
You can go into the PID programer and write what gauge you want to create, and there are tons if I understand correctly.
Only thing I see you loosing is the ability to turn traction control on and off and change limters on the fly like you can with the Proefi gauge and Display. I talked to Chris Delgado just now and said he would talk to Jason at Proefi about it. Maybe Its just a matter of writing a certain PID or a program so you can change settings like the display can.
